Local AAU teams compete at tournaments

Two local AAU basketball teams were in action at national tournaments on Friday.
The Louisiana Bayou Flames are competing at the Fab 48 Showcase in Las Vegas, and the L.T. Rockets are playing at the AAU boys basketball national tournament in Orlando, Fla.
The Louisiana Bayou Flames, a 17-and-under team, won two games on Friday. They defeated the COE Elite from California 48-39, and they beat Minnesota Comet Elite 99-79.
Nate Frye led the Bayou Flames with 14 points against the COE Elite, while Ja'Dante' Frye had 10 points and Isaac Allridge scored eight. Nate Frye also led the way against Minnesota Comet Elite with 19 points, while Allridge had eight and Cam Miller added six.
The Bayou Flames will play their next game at 9:15 today against an opponent yet to be determined.
The L.T. Rockets, a 17-and-under team, opened up bracket play with a 67-62 over Team Prospects from Florida. Lionheart Leslie led the team with 26 points, and also scoring in double figures were DeShaun Diggs (18) and Devante Ross (12).
The Rockets will face the Orlando Elite Bobcats at 2 today in the second round of the bracket tournament.
In pool play, the Rockets posted a 2-1 record. They opened with a win over Central Florida Yellow Jackets, 59-51. Leading scorers were Leslie (22) and Ross (15). The Rockets followed it up with a 77-72 loss to the North Carolina Blazers. Leading scorers were Leslie (25), Ross (24) and Justin Johnson (10).
The Rockets won its final pool play game, 63-42 over the Maryland Third Degree. Leading scorers were Diggs (22), Leslie (16) and Johnson (12).
